Seeing Red

See Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garçons defiant all-red SS15 collection rage against placid beauty brought boldly to life by Jeff Bark.

Guess Who's Back?!

     'Off with her head!'

   Alice in Wonderland

John Galliano, Alexis Roche & Natalia Vodianova

by Annie Leibowitz, US Vogue Dec 2003.

You all know what they say about second chances, right?
If you're lucky enough to get it, don't waste it. And it seems luck is on John Galliano's side. He has been given another chance as creative director of Maison Martin Margiela by the brand's owner, Renzo Rosso ( called the 'Jeans Genius' by Suzy Menkes). Quite how the flamboyant and romantic couturier will interpret a fashion house built on avant-garde principles is anybody's guess.

Wait, What?!

Wow, is there a creative drought in the American Vogue office? Not only is this cover lacking in imagination but also unacceptable. To put these fame-whoring tasteless idiots on the cover of what a lot of people consider as THE ultimate fashion bible is, well, sacrilegious. This issue should be burned at the stake.

Et voilà!

Ghesquière would bring a modern creative vision to the house’s women’s collections, building on the values of refinement, savoir faire and extreme quality.”

“Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration. I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision.”

When Nicholas Ghesquière left Balenciaga this time last year, the world waited with it's breath bated of news as to what the French wunderkind would do next. Well, the wait is finally over. LVMH has confirmed the appointment of  Ghesquière as it's new creative director -and with immediate effect- the designer will showcase his first collection for Vuitton in March next year.

Ghesquière is replacing Marc Jacobs, whose 16 year tenure at the storied fashion house ended last month.

I say it's an inspired choice as Nicholas is a visionary who would not only bring a breath of fresh air to the 160 year- old fashion house, but he would make it rock and roll cool for people to wear head-to-toe Vuitton again.

'I'm like the animals in the forest. They don't touch what they cannot eat'

No one hates food more than Karl Lagerfeld. Imagine his disgust when he sees this video of Grace Coddington as she cooks steak and potato dauphinoise with Elettra Wiedemann (Isabella Rosellini's daughter) in her kitchen.

Très Jolie

Here's to Angelina Jolie, who went through a double mastectomy this week. Her courage is breathtakingly admirable.

“I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy, but it is one I am very happy that I made. My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent. I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer.”
